Programs Associate Intern

Community Health Boosters (CHB) is a pioneering youth-led organization dedicated to creating digital health technologies and youth-friendly learning tools that empower young individuals, amplify their voices, and enhance their opportunities. Founded in 2019 at the University of Rwanda, College of Medicine and Health Sciences, CHB collaborates with young people to co-create inclusive digital solutions, low-tech games, magazines, and services that enrich their lives. Our Human-Centered Design approach fosters an environment where the ideas of young people can flourish into reality – where informed young people actively address issues affecting their lives.

CHB's mission is to promote and enrich the holistic well-being of young people through youth-friendly means. We advocate for youth-friendly services and strive to improve access to information that aids in informed decision-making and adopting healthier behaviors.

CHB is offering an exciting opportunity for individuals to join our team as Programs Associate Intern. Based at our Head Office in Kigali, this internship provides a unique chance to contribute to innovative programs aimed at enhancing the well-being of young people.

Job Summary:

The Program Associate Intern, will play a crucial role in supporting the planning, implementation, and evaluation of CHB's programs. Working closely with program managers, he/she will assist in coordinating activities, conducting research, and monitoring project progress. This internship offers valuable hands-on experience in program management and community development.

Reports to: Program Manager

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and execution of program plans and timelines.
  • Support the coordination of program activities, including workshops, training sessions, and community events.
  • Conduct research to inform program design and identify best practices.
  • Assist in monitoring and evaluating program outcomes, collecting data, and preparing reports.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure program effectiveness and sustainability.
  • Provide administrative support, including scheduling meetings, maintaining records, and managing program documentation.
  • Perform other tasks assigned by his/her supervisor

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development of funding proposals and donor reports.
  • Assist in conducting needs assessments and stakeholder consultations.
  • Support the design and implementation of monitoring and evaluation frameworks.
  • Participate in knowledge-sharing and capacity-building activities within the organization.
  • Represent CHB at meetings, workshops, and conferences as required.
  • Assist in the preparation of communication materials, including presentations and briefs.

Education and Experience:

  • Pursuing or recently completed a degree in Public Health, Development Studies, Social Sciences, or a related field.
  • Passion for community health, youth empowerment, or social change.
  • Previous experience in program management or community engagement is an asset.

Other Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
  • Proactive mindset with a willingness to take initiative.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in Kinyarwanda and English, with Frequency being an added value
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and data analysis tools
  • Cultural sensitivity and respect for diversity.
